TARUN KUMAR is an actor, director, and screen-writer who loves to create plays and films. He has been working in the performing arts in India for over three decades. Since 2007, Tarun has collaborated with Richa Nagar and the Sangtin Kisan Mazdoor Sangathan (Sangtin Farmers and Laborers Organization) in Uttar Pradesh to create plays and short films for mobilizing people around agrarian political questions and around questions of domination, representation, and justice. The work has continued to evolve in multiple sites, including Lucknow, Minneapolis, and Mumbai, and led in 2008 to the co-founding of ‘Parakh’ for approaching sociopolitical analysis through embodied collective creativity. His key theatrical productions as a director include, Do Haath (Minneapolis and Mumbai); Aag Lagi Hai Jangal Ma (Sitapur); Main Hindu Hoon(Lucknow); Hansa, Karo Puratan Baat (Mumbai); Naagar ki Nagariya, Qisson ki Atariya (Khandala, Indore); Inquilab Hamre Dum Se Aayi (Sitapur); Telling Dis/Appearing Tales (Minneapolis), and Fractured Threads (Minneapolis).
