Fawad Khan
Fawad Khan is a playwright, actor, and director from Pakistan. He graduated from the National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA), Karachi, majoring in direction for stage, in 2008. Since then he has been consistently doing theatre—directing, acting, assisting, writing/translating/adapting. He has acted in major productions such as KING LEAR (Dir. Zia Mohyeddin), READER by Ariel Dorfman (Dir. Sunil Shanker), FASANA-E-AJAIB, a translation of Shakespeare’s A Winter’s Tale (Dir. Gregory Thompson). Fawad has directed a number of plays including BABA JALINOOS, an adaptation of Moliere’s Tartuffe, JULOOS, by Badal Sircar, and RAAGNI, an adaptation of Ariel Dorfman’s Death and the Maiden. Two plays written by him, BETAALI PREM KATHA and CHUP, have also gone on to become major productions. He is part of the revival of the lost art of Dastangoi in Pakistan and his group DASTANGO has had more than a hundred performances since they started in 2014.
