University of Bahrain
Ghadeer Alkhenaizi is an architect, a researcher, and an adjunct lecturer at the University of Bahrain in Sakhir, Bahrain. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture from the University of Bahrain in 2015. In 2016, and following several years of practice in Bahrain, she received a Fulbright grant to pursue a master’s degree in architecture at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, focusing on sustainable design. Ghadeer is deeply interested in tracing and braiding the interplay between social human activity and sustainable design, especially within the housing sector. Throughout her research, pedagogy and practice, she explores new and nuanced venues for sustainability, by expanding and challenging our established knowledge of human-environmental relations, while reflecting on the unpredictable ways in which the growth of communities forms and transforms sustainable development.
